Wiesbaden -12. September 2017 – Der hessische Kunst- und Kulturminister Boris Rhein hat im Murnau-Filmtheater Wiesbaden den Preis „Nachhaltiges Kino“ verliehen. Die bundesweit einmalige, mit 5.000 Euro dotierte Auszeichnung geht an die Betreiber des Kinos „Cineplex“ in Baunatal im Landkreis Kassel. Erstmals wurden in diesem Jahr zudem Würdigungen für sieben weitere Kinos aus Kassel, Witzenhausen, Eschborn, Lich, Kronberg und Nidda ausgesprochen. Die Betreiber erhielten eine Urkunde als Anerkennung.
Kunst- und Kulturminister Boris Rhein gratulierte den Betreibern des Gewinner-Kinos herzlich zu ihrem Erfolg: „Sie haben mit ihrem erst neu errichteten Haus viele bauliche Möglichkeiten ausgeschöpft, um einen nachhaltigen Kinobetrieb zu gewährleisten. Insgesamt bin ich begeistert von der Ideenvielfalt der eingereichten Bewerbungen und freue mich, in diesem Jahr mehreren Kinos Urkunden überreichen zu können, mit denen sie ihr Engagement auch ihren Kunden sichtmachbar machen können.“Für den Preis „Nachhaltiges Kino“ bewertete eine Jury die eingereichten Vorschläge zum Beispiel danach, ob fair gehandelte Speisen und Getränke verkauft werden, es Mitarbeiterfortbildungen gibt oder das Programm die Auseinandersetzung mit umweltpolitischen Themen fördert. Sie setzt sich aus Fachleuten der Kinobranche sowie Vertretern des Film- und Kinobüros Hessen e.V. und dem Institut für Nachhaltigkeit in Kultur und Tourismus zusammen.
Die Jury begründet ihre Entscheidung für das „Cineplex“ in Baunatal damit, dass das Kino bereits viele gute Nachhaltigkeits-Ideen umsetzt und auch vor kostspieligen Investitionen nicht zurückschreckt. So haben die Planer des 2015 eröffneten Kinos architektonische Details berücksichtigt, die helfen, die Umwelt zu schonen: zum Beispiel eine bei Bedarf abrufbare Steuerung des Saallichtes und eine neuartige Laser-Projektion, die neben noch schärferen Bildern erhebliche Energieeinsparungen ermöglicht.
Auch die gewürdigten Kinos zeigen, wie vielfältig das Thema Nachhaltigkeit ist: Die „Kronberger Lichtspiele“ haben ihr Dach begrünt, das „Lumos Lichtspiel“ in Nidda unterstützt seine Mitarbeiter finanziell bei Sportaktivitäten und der Raucherentwöhnung. Das kommunale Kino in Eschborn bietet Flyer in Brailleschrift für Sehbehinderte an, während das „Kino Traumstern“ in Lich seine Programme bei einer ökologischen Druckerei anfertigen lässt. Zwei „Cineplex“-Kinos in Kassel lassen nicht mehr benötigte Werbebanner zu Taschen umnähen und das „Capitol“-Kino in Witzenhausen plant, Solarmodule anzuschaffen, um seine Ökobilanz zu verbessern. In diese Richtung geht auch die Idee der „Bali-Kino“ und des „Filmladens“ in Kassel: Sie wollen mit der Universität Kassel in einem Experiment prüfen, wie die Kinobesucher auf die Einführung eines CO2-Preises reagieren würden.
